Fall Community Service Project- Raider Hero Walk/5K for St. Jude- October 1, 2017
On Sunday, October 1, 2017 the National Honor Society and Cross Country team joined together in a special community event they organized to honor Harper Potter, a student at Norton Elementary and Middle School who received a cancer diagnosis earlier in the year. The event offered a 1-mile walk or 5K run around the city. The focus of the Raider Hero Glow Walk/Run was to show love and support for Harper while raising money for St. Jude, a hospital that brings treatment and HOPE to so many children and their families.
Hundreds of participants met at Norton City Park wearing race shirts or other super hero themed clothing, along with glow gear to light up the night. With the help of the community, the NHS and Cross Country team were able to raise just over $7,000 to send St. Jude Children's Hospital!
